Xbox X25 Special Edition Controller Unlocks Exclusive Dynamic Background

Microsoft has introduced an exclusive Xbox dynamic background for players who own the Xbox X25 Special Edition Controller, giving buyers an additional customization option for their consoles.

The limited-edition controller officially launched on October 20, 2026, as part of Microsoft's celebrations marking 25 years of Xbox.

The company revealed the exclusive background through a post on its official Xbox X account, showcasing an animated design inspired by the original Xbox console.

The background features the Xbox 25th anniversary logo surrounded by glowing green effects that gradually brighten and fade across the screen. Its appearance complements the translucent green design of the X25 controller.

Unlike regular Xbox dynamic backgrounds, this anniversary theme is tied to the special-edition controller. Players need to connect the compatible controller to their Xbox console to unlock the exclusive customization option.

Once unlocked, the background can be found by opening Settings, selecting General, navigating to Personalization, and choosing My Background followed by Dynamic Backgrounds.

The Xbox X25 Special Edition Controller is available separately from the anniversary console bundle and carries a suggested retail price of $79.99 in the United States.

According to the official Xbox announcement, the controller features a translucent OG Green design inspired by the original Xbox, alongside classic-colored ABXY buttons and a transparent battery cover.

Microsoft has also prepared an Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console, scheduled to launch on November 13, 2026, as part of the anniversary collection.

The exclusive dynamic background gives Xbox fans another way to celebrate the brand's history while personalizing their Xbox Series X or Series S home screen.
